Chelsea – If your guest speakers don’t mind, I’d love to include their names here… and if they’re willing, would love to see their comments as well.
I posted pictures on the Priest River website: http://www.priest-river-idaho.com. Wish I had gotten one with you and the speakers!

Its always a great concern to be aware of what goes on with the federal goverment. taxes wasteful spending ect. But I would be more concern how the problems we have in our own city goverment, like for instance being more business friendly, less restictions on business.and the crazy laws we have in Priest River, Idaho

Jack – You’re right that we need to pay attention at the local level as well.
Sounds to me like you need to join the Chamber of Commerce and start attending City Council meetings! Standing up for needed changes is the only way to bring them about.
Not being in town much any more, I don’t know what crazy laws you’re referring to, but I agree that Priest River – and Bonner County – need to encourage business growth.
Meanwhile, things coming down from Washington affect all of us so we can’t afford to just sit back and let things happen.

Chelsea was kind enough to forward a copy of the Te Party speech … and here it is:
Tea Party Thoughts
I want to recognize and thank Chelsea Earls – for spearheading this Tea Party Event… I know the effort and personal sacrifice that goes into planning, organizing and executing something like this.
As you could tell from my introduction I have a passion for History. I truly believe that those who do not learn the lessons of history are destined to live the tradgedies and horrors of the past.
Unfortunately, our children who are educated in government schools, are more often that not being indoctrinated with a revisionist view of history.
History written by people – who one would have to conclude – based on the text books they create –hate America. People who seek to undermine our great heritage, and tear down our cultural traditions.
Lets review some unrevised history…
On December 16, 1773. Some 200 men assembled on a hill overlooking Boston Harbor.
Their faces and hands were blackened with coal dust They were disguised as Indians, carrying axes and tomahawks.
When the command was given, shouting war cries they descended on three British East India Company ships moored in the harbor.
They quickly emptied the cargo holds of the ships, dumping thousands of pounds of tea into the harbor.
The purpose of that act of defiance, now remembered as the “Boston Tea Party”. An act considered as treason against the greatest military and naval power of the day.
Was to send a message, loud and clear – to King George the third, that they were fed-up with taxation without representation.
Today, a new kind of unrest is brewing, (pun intended) as we gather today for our own symbolic “Tea Party”
We join with thousands of men and women assembled in towns and cities across our great land.
We stand united, On the 15th of April, 2009, to send a similar message, both loud and clear, to our elected representatives on the local, state, and federal levels.
We Are fed up! with a Congress and President who:
Voted for a $500 billion dollar tax bill without even reading it.
Are spending trillions of borrowed dollars, leaving a debt our great-grandchildren will be paying.
Consistently give special interest groups billions of dollars in earmarks to help get themselves re-elected.
Want to take our wealth and redistribute it to others.
Punish those who practice responsible financial behavior and reward those who do not.
Admit to using the financial hurt of millions as an opportunity to push their political agenda.
Run up trillions of dollars of debt and then sell that debt to countries such as China.
Want government controlled health care.
Want to take away the right to vote with a secret ballot in union elections.
Refuse to stop the flow of millions of illegal immigrants into our country.
Appointed a defender of child pornography to the Number 2 position in the Justice Department.
Want to force doctors and other medical workers to perform abortions against their will.
Want to impose a carbon tax on our electricity, gas and home heating fuels.
Want to reduce our tax deductibility for charitable gifts.
Take money from our family budget to pay for their federal budget….We are fed up!
If you agree with most of those statements – then you agree with me that we need to return to the basic Principles and values of our Founding Fathers.
The principles and values that made the United States of America “Exceptional”.
One of my favorite radio and TV hosts is someone you may have heard of, Mr. Glenn Beck.
Glenn’s extensive research into the founding of our republic – led him to the following list of nine Principles and twelve Values that are essential to the continued success and greatness of our Nation.
These principles and values are well covered and explained in detail in these outstanding books.
“Our Sacred Honor” By William J. Bennett
“The Five Thousand Year Leap” By W. Cleon Skousen
“Liberty and Tyranny” By Mark R. Levin
Here are the Nine Principles…
9 Principles
1. America Is Good.
Far from being the Great Satan, I would say that we are the Great Protector. We have sent men and women from the armed forces of the United States to other parts of the world throughout the past century to put down oppression. We defeated Fascism. We defeated Communism. We saved Europe in World War I and World War II. We were willing to do it, glad to do it. We went to Korea. We went to Vietnam. All in the interest of preserving the rights of people.
And when all those conflicts were over, what did we do? Did we stay and conquer? Did we say, “Okay, we defeated Germany. Now Germany belongs to us? We defeated Japan, so Japan belongs to us”? No. What did we do? We built them up. We gave them democratic systems which they have embraced totally to their soul. And did we ask for any land? No, the only land we ever asked for was enough land to bury our dead. And that is the kind of nation we are. As quoted from former Sec of State, Colin Powell
2. I believe in God and He is the Center of my Life.
from George Washington’s first Inaugural address. “The propitious smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the external rules of order and right which Heaven itself has ordained.”
3. I must always try to be a more honest person than I was yesterday.
George Washington “I hope that I shall always possess firmness and virtue enough to maintain what I consider to be the most enviable of all titles, the character of an honest man.”
4. The family is sacred. My spouse and I are the ultimate authority, not the government.
Thomas Jefferson “It is in the love of one’s family only that heartfelt happiness is known. By a law of our nature, we cannot be happy without the endearing connections of a family.”
5. If you break the law you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and no one is above it.
Thomas Jefferson “I deem one of the essential principles of our government… equal and exact justice to all men of whatever state or persuasion, religious or political.”
6. I have a right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, but there is no guarantee of equal results.
Thomas Jefferson on the pursuit of Happiness “Everyone has a natural right to choose that vocation in life which he thinks most likely to give him comfortable subsistence.”
7. I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable.
George Washington on Charity “It is not everyone who asketh that deserveth charity; all however, are worth of the inquiry or the deserving may suffer.”
8. It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion.
George Washington On your right to disagree “In a free and republican government, you cannot restrain the voice of the multitude; every man will speak as he thinks, or more properly without thinking.”
9. The government works for me. I do not answer to them, they answer to me.
Thomas Jefferson on Who works for whom? “I consider the people who constitute a society or a nation as the source of all authority in that nation.”
Here are the twelve values that Glenn encourages us to strive for.
12 Values
Honesty
Reverence
Hope
Thrift
Humility
Charity
Sincerity
Moderation
Hard Work
Courage
Personal Responsibility
Gratitude
I could go on for hours on the need for each of these principles and values in our lives as husbands, wives, parents and citizens of the greatest Nation in history.
In my opinion this nation was born, nurtured and preserved by the hand of Almighty God.
With his continued blessings we will prosper again, but only if we as a Nation, return to the principles and values that made us great…
Several weeks ago I heard a news story about President Obama returning a gift that was given to the people of the United States from the people of Great Britain following the attack on 911 and was placed in the Oval Office by President Bush.
That gift was a bust of Sir Winston Churchill, prime minister of England during World War II and once voted to be the greatest Briton of all time.
I wondered why President Obama would reject such a great man… so I did some research and found these quotes from Sir Winston Churchill.
“There is no such thing as a good tax.”
“Some see private enterprise as a predatory target to be shot, others as a cow to be milked, but few are those who see it as a sturdy horse pulling the wagon.”
“The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries.”
“An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile—hoping it will eat him last.”
“We contend that for a nation to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying to lift himself up by the handle.”
I think I know now – why President Barack Obama rejected Sir Winston Churchill. What do you Think?
Let me leave you with the words of –Mercy Warren, who wrote the History of the Rise, Progress, and Termination of the American Revolution, in 1805,
Quote. “It is necessary for every American, with becoming energy to endeavor to stop the dissemination of principles evidently destructive of the cause for which they have bled. It must be the combined virtue of the rulers and of the people to do this, and to rescue and save their civil and religious rights from the outstretched arm of tyranny, which may appear under any mode or form of government.”
“Ladies and Gentlemen: look around you…
You are not alone…We surround Them… Thank You, and may God Bless America!

Our little logging town of Priest River Idaho had a more-than-expected turn out for our TEA Party! Out of a city with a population of around 2000 people, over 300 attended! People brought their signs, mini American flags were handed out to everyone, citizens were educated, and even kids dressed in jail suits accompanied by a sign that read “prisoners of Debt”!
Everyone who attended came together with common bonds…..fear of losing their liberty, independence, and leaving our future generations in a heap of inconceivable debt . In the end, everyone left there with a comfort of knowing that if this country ended up in hard times, we as a community would come together and unite and prevail.
Our rally had 2 incredible guest speakers who invigorated and educated the crowd. The floor was then opened to the general public to “vent”. Coffee was supplied by non-profit organizations accepting donations, and free cookies for everyone! Over 100 signatures were collected to be sent to the White house demanding our government and all it’s entities govern by the 9 principles and 12 values brought to America by FOX News Glenn Beck of the Glenn Beck Show. Several people signed up wanting to be involved in the next event! Our rally was a success, and people are pumped up to take the next steps to get the message to our government! God bless the USA and may God help our government!
